We are committed to transparent and upfront communication about the costs of your mental health care. As part of our commitment to this transparency and in compliance with the No Surprises Act, which took effect on January 1, 2022, we provide protection from surprise billing.

What is the No Surprises Act?

The No Surprises Act is designed to protect patients from unexpected medical bills for out-of-network services. This federal law applies when you receive emergency care or are treated by an out-of-network provider.

How does this affect you?

Under the No Surprises Act, you are only responsible for paying the in-network cost-sharing amounts for:

- Emergency services, without requiring prior authorization.

- Certain services performed by out-of-network clinicians at an in-network facility, unless consent is given to receive services out-of-network.

Estimate of Charges

Before receiving non-emergency treatment, you have the right to receive a good faith estimate of expected charges. This estimate should be requested and will be provided in writing at least three days before your service. This helps ensure that you are informed and can make decisions about your care with an understanding of the potential costs.

If you receive a bill that you believe does not comply with the No Surprises Act, you may contact our office for a clarification or dispute the charge. Additionally, you can seek assistance from the No Surprises Help Desk set up by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
